SECOND MAN DROP-OFF.
When riding together on runs, we usually operate the second man drop-off system. It’s easy to follow but you can ask for further explanation when you attend a run.
You will work your way to the position behind the leader as we progress. When YOU are second, as soon as the leader turns off at a junction you stop in a safe place at the junction and indicate the direction of the run to the rest of the group. When the “Tail End Charlie” arrives, you move off in front of him. Tail End Charlie will be identified to you at the start of the run.
The system is also used for major junctions even if we are going straight ahead.
Never overtake the leader. You will get lost!

There is a video called "Second Man" on the video page to show what we do on junctions. Access it here: Second Man
Some of our runs involve a route card. This is normally stated in the Calendar. The best way to follow these is with a Route Roller (see below.)
A Route Roller fitted to the handlebars. These are available from the VMCC Shop.
