Barrie's afternoon run was the first of the season. We left Whatstandwell and rode by Alport and Belper Lane End to emerge on the Ashbourne road.
Ralph, whose turn it was to direct riders at this junction, took his position and promptly fell gently to the ground with his modern Triumph. We went through Shottle, Wirksworth and Cromwell then as we turned right towards Lea gardens, Barrie our leader gave his Yamaha some throttle to climb the adverse camber and the back wheel stepped out, making him the second rider down today! He was on his feet in a jiffy; not bad for someone who will be 87 next month.
The promised rain arrived as a light shower towards the end of the run and I only got wet on the way home after tea (and cake!)
